'Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love'

New Yorker Matt Kinsey went into the West Side Market in NYC the other day and picked up a container of assorted cheese cubes from the shelf. When he glanced down to see if the ingredients would truly be 'great for snacks,' he was surprised to find some classic rock lyrics instead.
As you can see from the photo, a verse from Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin' 'bout love" was curiously printed on the label. In other words, ingredients = killer lyrics.
No word yet if thousands of mullet haired rock fans have made a pilgrimage to the market in their assless chaps to pay tribute to this one of a kind VH cheese. But In my opinion any cheese that's "been to the edge, And [then I] stood and looked down" is some the best damn cheese ever made. Even if it's rotten to the core.
The work of some rogue stockboy no doubt.

Old-fashioned Vandalism.
The guy across the street got TP'ed over the weekend, and it struck me that this expression of juvenile mischief seems a lot fewer and further between than it used to. I enjoyed the art of heaving Charmin back in the early eighties, but don't see it much anymore. I suppose everyone gets TP'ed virtually on Facebook these days. Yeesh.

Whooops.

This photo provided by the Florida Highway Patrol shows a State Police cruiser covered with bags of marijuana Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007. The Florida Highway Patrol says anyone missing two big bags of pot can call their Tampa area office. A crew picking up litter from along Interstate 4 near Tuesday morning made an unusual find: two big plastic garbage bags stuffed with freshly harvested marijuana. (AP Photo/Florida Highway Patrol)

Faub.org Meets the Public

We had a launch party last weekend for the creative group we formed about a year ago here in New Orleans. Lots of fun, see some of the pix going up here. Thanks to all who came out and signed in to keep the independent creative community talking. Special thanks to Andy at Barrister's Gallery for hosting the event space on St. Claude. The weather was perfect, the DJs were rockin, and the hazy recollections suggest people had some fun...

Faub.org is Alive.

Kudos to Ness & Erik, who went deep and gave us faub.org. We've graduated from temp splash page to this wonderful and fun interim site, which will someday give birth to the full site, which has been an ongoing labor of love since the early days.
What's Faub.org? A growing handful of New Orleans-based creatives and techies, feeling a bit thrown to the winds post-Katrina, bound together in spirit and spirits. We design. We develop. We drink, and more often than not, we talk a lot. Check it out. Play around w. the site. Dragging stuff around encouraged. We're having some sort of launch party this Fall. More to come.

Warp Zone Beauty

Isn’t it great how creativity kicks in when times running out. Take for example this incredible and beautiful installation by artists Dan Havel and Dean Ruck a few months before this house was to be demolished…. I’m guessing they saw any opportunity to do something freaking crazy cool to a space that was going to be destroyed and turned this old house into a trippy wooden warp zone! [more]

GenPets Hoax

From artist Adam Brandejs: Accessability to art is limited, so Genpets.com exposes the piece into a more public sphere, that encourages discussion and potentially promotes awareness of current issues. This discussion is quintessential to developing our understanding of science, life and the merging controlled relationship between the two.
While the piece functions aesthetically far better in person, pets moving, lights blinking, sound bleeping and spanning a wall in front of the viewer, the gallery is not an accessible outlet for mass distribution, especially not for an emerging artist such as myself. (If however, you’re interested in displaying Genpets, please do contact me).
